Braking System

Braking System

When I began my project ages ago, companies acted as though nobody was interested in Pre-73 Chevy trucks.  Since I was wanting to lower my truck I was left with only 2 options for the front, heat the coils or convert it to 73 spindles and brakes.  I chose to convert to newer spindles to help the ride.

Front

12" Rotors (stock)

Single Piston Floating caliper (stock)

Rear

12" Rotors (stock)

Single Piston Floating caliper (stock)

This is a rear end and stock brakes from a 74 Chrysler Imperial.  Evidently this is a very rear piece.  Replacement parts are hard to find.  Most have been discontinued.

Parking Brakes

This rear end has an integrated drum brake.  Luckily for me it works very simular to stock parking brakes.  It is cable operated.  All thats needed is to order special cables the lengths I need.

Master Cylinder

Hmmmmm, good question.  I want to use a lighter aluminum master cylinder.

Brake Lines

I purchased prebent stainless lines from Inline Tube.  I hade to make lines for my rear end.  For that I used 3/16ths stainless line I got from Summit Racing.  All the flex lines are braided stainless steel hose.
